Bonded foil strain gages are the heart of our technology. This incredibly accurate method of converting mechanical quantities into electrical measurement signals is optimized for every SENTRAN transducer design, including geometric influences and temperature performance characteristics.

Environmental protection is a critical factor in producing a transducer that will provide stable and reliable information over long periods of time. For SENTRAN, this process begins at the strain gage level, and is then carefully integrated into every aspect of the construction of our products. Based on the IP (International Index of Protection) environmental protection rating system, we offer products ranging from IP50 (protected from dust) to IP68 (protected against extended periods of immersion under pressure). For more information on these ratings, please refer to the technical support section of this website. Virtually all SENTRAN load cells, transducers and weigh modules are IP rated. Optimized products for the Food/Beverage and the Biotech/Pharmaceuticals sectors are offered in C-I-P (Clean-In-Place) configurations, specifically designed for "Sanitary" applications.

Sealing effectiveness can often mean the difference between costly, frustrating down-time and revenue-producing, worry-free up-time. SENTRAN sealing techniques vary depending on the load cell and the application requirements. Low capacity load cells are often used under less demanding environmental conditions, as compared to higher capacity load cells and weigh modules. For this reason and other factors, very low capacity products are often sealed only to the extent that they are protected from the effects of condensation and dust. On the other end of the spectrum, we offer stainless steel, hermetically sealed load cells with welded seals and fused glass-to-metal connectors. These load cells are designed to withstand the rigors of high pressure wash down, extended submersion, caustics and corrosives, and similarly demanding applications.

Engineered products are created using some of the finest technology available, including:

  • Advanced 3D Solid-Modeling. Virtually all SENTRAN transducer designs begin in this realm. The extraordinary capabilities of this engineering tool allows for exploration of design concepts in less time, then provides the ability to seamlessly pass data downstream for analysis and manufacturing applications. Components fit, and development costs are reduced significantly.

  • CAD. A literal staple of professional engineering competence, SENTRAN embraces the concept that the real world integrity of any transducer is found in its design quality. We don't cut corners on the systems and equipment required in assuring this objective is met.

  • Finite Element Analysis. An extension of CAD, FEA is an excellent tool for our highly engineered products. The ability to analyze transducer structures under a variety of load cases is a powerful tool in achieving design optimization. Our expertise has risen to a level proven to be quite unique in our industry. FEA modeling has reduced development times dramatically, while providing a basis for accurately proving element designs before metal is ever cut. In short, we get the results we designed for, rather than adapting to something less than we had hoped for.
